Retaining Walls

Retaining Walls

Structural walls that do their job for decades.

A retaining wall isn't just decorative; it's holding back grade and managing water pressure behind it. We engineer ours to actually do that, not just look good until the first heavy rain.

Overview

Retaining walls fail for one of two reasons: inadequate drainage behind the wall, or a base that wasn't built to handle the soil pressure it's holding back. We install proper drainage systems and engineered footings on every wall, whether it's a low decorative border or a structural wall managing several feet of grade change.

What's Included
  • Site assessment for grade change, soil type, and drainage needs
  • Engineered footings sized to the wall height and load
  • Drainage systems (gravel backfill, drain tile) built into every structural wall
  • Natural stone, block, or poured concrete finish options
  • Permit handling for walls requiring structural engineering sign-off

Why It Matters

Why Drainage Comes First

Water pressure behind a wall is the number one cause of bowing, cracking, and eventual failure. Before we ever set the first block, we plan how water will move behind and around the wall, that planning is what separates a wall that lasts 30 years from one that needs rebuilding in five.
